Pickup Recommendation
« on: October 05, 2016, 02:39:15 AM »
Easiest way to describe my style is Sylosis rhythm playing with some erra type slides/string skipping. I tend to lean more towards the thrashy palm muted rhythm playing of sylosis but I do throw in some djenty style runs in my writing. I need the pickup articulate with seperation enough for both of these styles but too articulate with no crunch or bite is just as bad. I'm really leaning towards the titan set, but I've also considered the d'activator (or x, don't know which is better), x2n, and Seymour Duncan alternative 8. any opinions would really help. Thanks

Go Titans!  :madness:

From what Ive heard from friends that use it, it would be a great match for you. The D-Activator is great too for that style. Stay away from the X2N and D-Activator X, too much output.

Does the d'activator have a good amount of clarity? Which pickup would you think is more worth it. In other words. Does the titan with tighter focus and super clarity outway the little extra distortion and thrash power of the d'activator?

I haven't played the Titan myself so I only go by what people I trust have told me. It's apparently pretty hot but still very defined and clear.
The DA I've played a lot and it's a great allround metal pickup and it's actually pretty versatile too. It's like a great active pickup, punchy and clear, but without the annoying compression.
