There are two schools of thought on nailing Angus' tone , from what I have learned
First, use a regular normal PAF , and crank the living **** out of a NMV Plexi.
More practical, is to use a higher output PAF style pickup to drive the front end of a Marshall style amp.
What do you think?
I'm going then second route- do you think the PAF Master could get me there? The Master seems like a great intermediary pickup that could do both things-NMV cranked and master volume.
I do have a JCM 800, and and an old MMV Marshall( 72 Superlead), so my bases are covered amp-wise.
How do you find Angus' tone with Dimarzio?

I never tried to duplicate the Angus tone but I think both the PAF Master bridge and the 36th Anniversary bridge should get you in the ballpark. Amp wise you should definitely be covered.

I would throw the Transition bridge. I was pleasantly surprised at how vintage flavored it sounded when I tried it out earlier this week.

I'd suggest the 36th Anniv Bridge.
