Title: Bridge pickup for Strat
Post by: aselix on January 16, 2026, 10:52:13 AM
I want to replace the bridge pickup in my strat, from a single coil to a humbucker.

Looking for an 80's type lead sound.  Which single coil sized humbuckers should I look at?

Not necessarily high output, just enough for a strong lead sound.

Thanks

The Seymour Duncan Lil’ Screamin Demon is the best I’ve played and the best I’ve heard. The Chopper is my runner up, but it really isn’t all that close.

Others that I’m familiar with in the bridge position and am prepared to comment on include the following:
Fast Track 1
BC-1
BC-2
Fast Track 2
Little 59
JB Jr.
Hot Rails

From the rails/blades type pickups I played the Super Distortion S and the Chopper, the Chopper being my clear favorite of those two. No experience with any of the Duncan models in the bridge position.

Cheers Stephan

Chopper, or Air Norton S (darker).  Never cared for the Duncan little series, and I've heard them all.  They don't sound like full sized pickups; the DiMarzios do.
