Guitar Lounge / Re: Why do the high e (1st) strings always break first?
« on: November 01, 2021, 06:13:54 PM »
What gauge strings do you use? I use to snap them all when I was using 8's. Yeah I know they're super flimsy but that problem kinda resolved itself when I moved up to 9's and just started going Eb instead.

The Pickup Place / Re: Middle pickup suggestions?

I think you want a reverse polarity one. It won't be hum cancelling in the middle position alone though, only in positions 2 and 4 if you split the humbuckers.

That's awesome! So happy to hear things are back to normal!

I use to love the Paf Pro but find it kinda thin these days. Maybe I'm just getting old. On a mahogany bodied LP type guitar, I absolutely LOVE the Air Norton/Norton combo.

I was just about to respond to this and realized the OP asked this question about 4 years ago!

I still agree with Stephan though. The Cruiser would be a pretty awesome fit with a Fast Track 2.

The Pickup Place / Re: Stratocaster Wiring - Watch Your Grounds!

I found that I never used the tone pot in my guitars that had them so I just disconnected them.

I can see it affecting sustain but signal to noise ratio? Any physics experts here explain how that works?

Looks like it might be an old PAF & Super Distortion set.

Hey man,

I think it might be a javascript thing. When I click on Attachments and other options, I see the check boxes for notify me of replies, return to this topic and don't use smileys and under that I see Attach: Choose file

I'm using Google Chrome. I also don't have problems on edge or on my wife's mac using Safari.

Isn't the trademark only in the US or something?

Glad to see this place is back up and running again.

Ascension, he asked for a fat not flat.

But seriously, those doom metal pups they came out with: Nazgul, Pegasus, Sentient. They all came off to me as dry and gritty as that average chick at the beach you settle on after having too much to drink and then find out she got too much sand in her bikini bottoms. Then you wake up to realize she has a “I need to speak to a manager” haircut and spells her name all goofy, like Elysse.

LOL Nice description!

Ditching the tone pot is easy. Just disconnect it!

That's not a standard 5-way switch though, I made that mistake and found out that Ibanez also has a cheaper switches that are custom made to offer that wiring without needing the more expensive VLX-91.

The Pickup Place / Re: Evh frankenstein humbucker - dimarzio equivalent?
« on: October 23, 2018, 05:40:05 PM »
I'd say the PAF models are in the same tonal range as the Frankenstein humbucker. Been a while since I had the EVH Frankenstein but I do remember it being very woody sounding. Last guitar I had with the Frankenstein, it was paired up with a SD Cool Rails which I then replaced with a Cruiser which I thought was a great pairing.

Transition and Injectors sound like a pretty good combo actually. This just gave me a reason to buy an HSS Strat.
