Neck pickup for LP to complement 36th Anniversary PAF
« on: November 11, 2016, 11:22:10 AM »
Hi guys! First time poster here. I just put in a DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF into my 93 Gibson Les Paul Standard and I love it. I've decided to replace the stock neck pickup too. I play everything from blues to hard rock through a Budda Superdrive 18. I seldom play totally clean. I want something that complements the 36th Anniversary that I put in the bridge. I'm looking for it to be clear and sound good overdriven and cleans up really well with the volume knob. Any suggestions?

Have you considered another 36th?

Yes, I have actually. Just wondered if there was an even better option.

If you dont want a 36th there you could try a EJ Custom, Air Classic, Humbucker from Hell or a Bluesbucker. All of the low power DiMarzios would work pretty well, its just a matter of taste. Id lean towards the EJ Custom.

The AC is the only ones of those I've not yet tried. Believe it or not, I tend to like the Bluesbucker in the neck more than the others.

In fact, the Bluesbucker is the only one of those listed I have tried. It could work for what you want.

Cheers Stephan
