The Pickup Place / Re: Crunch Lab / Liquifire on the way!

I actually really like the CL/LF set, especially on a Marshall or something that's mid-heavy. I swapped out the TZ/AN set in one of my Ibanez J Customs before and it really helped bring it to life. It was almost like the stock TZ/AN set had pillows covering my amp.

I just noticed this now. Might actually hit you up for one of the Bluesbuckers. Gotta see which guitar I want to throw it in first.

Everything you wanted to know about .... / Re: PAF Joe
« on: March 01, 2022, 12:20:02 PM »
I bought a paf joe and put it into the neck of my 22 fret Epipone LP, paired with a Dactivator bridge.  It has two sets of adjustable poles.  Recently, adjusting them, optimizing  pickup height, and wiring the pickup in parallel gave a much more vibrant sound.  I definitely recommend using a very small bright cap to keep the delicate overtones if you like doing volume swell.
Super classic rock n roll tone, wired the bridge pu in series so that when I switch from this there is significant volume boost.  This is very much a rhythm guitar pickup.  Everyone was right about pick attack, but I use a heavy pick like .7mm minimum, and I like the amount of definition. very low noise.   The sound was super punchy and clear for leads when I had it in series, and I may add a switch for that later, but I wasn't as happy with that tone as the 10/10 parallel.
PS this would be mud in a fender neck position...  someone already said do not try and I won't.

That's great to know! Thanks for sharing man!

News & New Guys / New Registrations & server roll back
« on: February 28, 2022, 09:07:14 PM »
Hello Hello!

Decided to spend some time to fix up a few things on the server. Been noticing a lot of suspicious traffic stemming from the Ukraine and Russia lately and updated a few things here and there. I'm still trying to sort why some emails don't make it out but others do.

If anyone is trying to register but not receiving the activation e-mail and it's not in your spam/junk box even after a bit of waiting please send me an email at buddroyce [a t] gmail and I'll manually activate your account for you.

Also had to do a roll back to one day prior to fix some issues. I don't think much should be affected though.

The Norton or Gravity Storm bridge would be a good option. The Norton will be closer to what you have with the AT-1 with less of the nasally wah. I find the the Gravity Storm is bigger and tighter than the Norton. I actually like all three pickups (AT-1, Norton and Gravity Storm) and have the Gravity Storm set in my RG8670 which is very close to your RG8570z. I personally love the Gravity Storm set in there.

News & New Guys / Happy Holidays! Server update Dec 2021
« on: December 27, 2021, 12:00:39 PM »
Happy Holidays everyone!! Thank you all for making this place great!

Server software was updated again today. Hopefully it fixes some of the issues we've had here. It does look like we had about 300+ new user registrations over the last few days and while I'm flattered, I'm pretty sure the bulk majority are just fake spam accounts. Will deal with those accordingly.

Give the Gravity Storm set a go or maybe go with a Bluesbucker in the neck with a Super Distortion in the bridge.

Also.. welcome to the forum! :)

I haven't taken one apart yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a tad larger than normal.

OK. Will look into this. Must be something account specific.

The Pickup Place / Re: Middle pickup suggestions?
« on: November 01, 2021, 06:21:01 PM »
How often do you use your middle pickup? Do you use the middle pickup position at all?

It really doesn't matter if you go with the reverse wound or not. The only thing that changes is what wire you solder. Using a standard (not reverse-wound) pickup, you would just swap the live and ground wires. Aside from that I don't believe there are any differences between a standard wound or reverse wound pickup.

Hey man,

I think it might be a javascript thing. When I click on Attachments and other options, I see the check boxes for notify me of replies, return to this topic and don't use smileys and under that I see Attach: Choose file

I'm using Google Chrome. I also don't have problems on edge or on my wife's mac using Safari.

Thanks for checking that. I literally just spent the last half hour or so going through the admin settings to see if I screwed up something.

@Stephan - Let me know what browser you're using. You may need to clear your browser cache or just reset the settings.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please post here to let me know.

Hey Stephan, can you try a logging in with a different browser and see if that works? I'm wondering if it's a cache problem as I can't seem to be able to replicate the problem.
