News & New Guys / Hi Bud, long time, no see
« on: July 17, 2021, 11:18:14 AM »
Hi Bud!!
Been away for awhile, lots of changes.  Thought I'd stop by and see how everyone is.  I see you still have my "Madness" icon.  Nice to see I left something to be remembered by.  :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: Anything new??

« on: November 20, 2018, 06:31:05 PM »
Happy Thanksgiving!!  I was wondering about this set up with a pair of 61's neck and middle with an AT-1 bridge, 250k pots in a parts caster.  Anyone tried this?

Gear Closet / Amp choices
« on: June 05, 2018, 11:43:48 AM »
When I started playing guitar I wanted a Marshall amp, nothing else would do, had to Marshall or bust.  I bought a JCM900, 100watt combo and I thought I was in heaven.  I’m new Day in a local music store, I found a silver face deluxe reverb that needed work. I bought it for $100.00.  I started reading articles on how to hotrod them into something completely different, found an amp tech who told me I would fall out of love with my Marshall when he was done.  That little 20 watt fender embarrassed my Marshall and a number of other Marshalls that other players had.  I had that amp for about 2 years when I asked for a custom built pre amp based on my deluxe reverb. Again not disappointed.  Now in my 60’s, I now own a fender Super Sonic, 60 watt. I find myself playing thru the Bassman channel with an Overdrive, Distortion, Delay, and Chorus ( yes I use the spring reverb).  I love the versatility, richness of my sound. How many others have had this revaluation??

Thinking of doing this with my H-H strat with ToneZone in bridge. Has anyone tried the 36th bridge in the neck?

The Pickup Place / Air Classic set
« on: May 24, 2017, 07:06:41 PM »
Been a while since I've posted anything (more like years) but I just got these and I got to give my 2 cents.  These have got to be the best sounding pickups I've played nice balance, split nicely and can be used in any situtation.  You can hear every string, every note as they dont seem to blur together.  The marshall patch on my eleven rack roars and then cleans nicely when you back down the volume knob.  Cleans are whatever you what them to be, the neck in full humbucker almost sounds stratty, the second position on the switch yields almost a funky bright tone you can almost hear some quack there, 3rd position is like a paul.  It took me a long time to pull the trigger on these and now I'm glad I did.  Keepers for sure!

From my album New Day and the Enchanted Evening of Sleep. The f/t is in the middle and the super d is the full size bucker in the bridge of my super strat.

The Pickup Place / Super Distortion
« on: October 31, 2015, 11:59:04 AM »
My first pickup was a Super Distortion around 1972ish or so.  I've tried a million others and recently bought another Super D.  I just love this pickup, it's big Arena 80s Metal at it's best.

Here's a clip

I guys, I'm back from the dead (little Halloween humor)!!  I'm over hauling my guitars again with a full size super distortion and a pair of super distortion s (different guitars) and was curious if anyone has wired them in parallel and what their results were.  I'm also glad to see my "Madness" icon is still here!!    :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness: :madness:

Guitar Lounge / Stratocaster tuning secret
« on: July 11, 2010, 02:04:58 PM »
I can't remember if I posted this before, but I have done this on 2 of my strats and it works.  My strats stay in tune (except when there is a really bad thunderstorm in the area).  I also have graphite nuts and locking tuners which help.  If you have a strat and can't keep it in tune then try this, it really works.
