The Pickup Place / Re: Should I be Concerned?
« on: October 26, 2016, 11:13:49 AM »
That was pointed out to me in another forum! I feel like an idiot! lol

Every DiMarzio I have ever owned has had hex poles and came with the key stuck to
the back of the pup. When this one didn't it was the first thing I noticed.
But, yes...it doesn't need one so why would they send one! lol

The Warranty number still bugs me, but I'll make them take notice and they say it's ok and will back me up in case of problems I'll keep the pup.

The Pickup Place / Should I be Concerned?
« on: October 25, 2016, 03:21:04 PM »
I received my 36th Anniversary pup yesterday.

When I opened the case I discovered two things. First, there was no allen key stuck to the back.
Not really a big deal, but then I noticed that the serial number on the warranty card did not
match the number on the back of the pickup.

Is this an issue?

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio Location?
« on: October 22, 2016, 06:06:13 PM »
There have been some questions in a few guitar forums lately about where DiMarzio pups are made.
Yes, I know they say Staten Island, NYC, but if you look at the factory via google earth, it looks pretty small. No tours allowed, no real pics from inside the building that I know of...

Some of the guys are saying they may be made elsewhere, and shipped from Staten Island.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

We live on the edge my friend! I'm glad to see someone else has done the same thing!

DiMarzio suggests it's not a bad idea to use the 36 Anniversary bridge pup in the NECK
position if your bridge pup is hot enough to compliment the pairing.

So that's what I'm doing. I have the Super D in the bridge. I'll let you know what happens.
I expect good things!   8)

The Pickup Place / Re: DiMarzio Pot Tolerance
« on: October 11, 2016, 09:12:37 PM »
What I mean is, when you buy for example a 500k pot some manufacturers will tell you there
is a +/- of  20%. So the pot could be anywhere from 480k to 520k. Some say 30%...some will sell matched sets, but they are usually more expensive because someone has to manually hook up every pot to a multi-meter.

I was wondering if anyone knew what DiMarzio's +/- ratio was?

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio Pot Tolerance

Does anyone know what the tolerance levels are on DiMarzio pots?
I know they're made by CTS. I'm hoping no more than 20%

The Pickup Place / Push/Pull Question
« on: October 07, 2016, 11:51:59 PM »
Lads...

If I want to series/parallel my humbuckers, can I do both (Bridge & Neck) with just one push/pull?
Or, do I need two push/pulls, one per pickup?

The Pickup Place / Who Makes Pots for DiMarzio?

Does anyone know who makes the pots for DiMarzio?

I want a 500k push/pull and I'm hoping it will jive with my short shaft CTS
pots that I already have. I don't want the shaft too long so it sticks out
like a sore thumb.

Super Distortion in the bridge and a 36th Anniversary in the neck.

Do you guys think these two are compatible on a Les Paul?
I may wire the neck for series/parallel and for out of phase as well.

Any opinions are appreciated.

Done!

It took a while to get the pups, but now I'm a happy camper!
Super D in the bridge, Humbucker from Hell in the neck. Perfect combo!
DiMarzio's in a historic Les Paul are sweeeet!

I want the neck pup to be out of phase with the bridge pup when
the knob is pulled out.
