The Pickup Place / Should I be Concerned?
« on: October 25, 2016, 03:21:04 PM »
I received my 36th Anniversary pup yesterday.

When I opened the case I discovered two things. First, there was no allen key stuck to the back.
Not really a big deal, but then I noticed that the serial number on the warranty card did not
match the number on the back of the pickup.

Is this an issue?

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio Location?
« on: October 22, 2016, 06:06:13 PM »
There have been some questions in a few guitar forums lately about where DiMarzio pups are made.
Yes, I know they say Staten Island, NYC, but if you look at the factory via google earth, it looks pretty small. No tours allowed, no real pics from inside the building that I know of...

Some of the guys are saying they may be made elsewhere, and shipped from Staten Island.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

The Pickup Place / Bridge Pup in the Neck
« on: October 12, 2016, 07:39:04 AM »
DiMarzio suggests it's not a bad idea to use the 36 Anniversary bridge pup in the NECK
position if your bridge pup is hot enough to compliment the pairing.

So that's what I'm doing. I have the Super D in the bridge. I'll let you know what happens.
I expect good things!   8)

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio Pot Tolerance
« on: October 10, 2016, 09:42:21 PM »
Does anyone know what the tolerance levels are on DiMarzio pots?
I know they're made by CTS. I'm hoping no more than 20%

The Pickup Place / Push/Pull Question
« on: October 07, 2016, 11:51:59 PM »
Lads...

If I want to series/parallel my humbuckers, can I do both (Bridge & Neck) with just one push/pull?
Or, do I need two push/pulls, one per pickup?

The Pickup Place / Who Makes Pots for DiMarzio?
« on: September 24, 2016, 08:39:59 PM »
Does anyone know who makes the pots for DiMarzio?

I want a 500k push/pull and I'm hoping it will jive with my short shaft CTS
pots that I already have. I don't want the shaft too long so it sticks out
like a sore thumb.

The Pickup Place / Super D & 36th Annivesary

Super Distortion in the bridge and a 36th Anniversary in the neck.

Do you guys think these two are compatible on a Les Paul?
I may wire the neck for series/parallel and for out of phase as well.

Any opinions are appreciated.

The Pickup Place / At Long last!

Done!

It took a while to get the pups, but now I'm a happy camper!
Super D in the bridge, Humbucker from Hell in the neck. Perfect combo!
DiMarzio's in a historic Les Paul are sweeeet!

The Pickup Place / Schematic Help Needed
« on: July 25, 2016, 11:02:35 PM »
Guys...

I asked DiMarzio to send me a schematic to have one push/pull for the out of phase option. This is what they sent me.
My Les Paul is wired 1950's.

It still confuses me. It says at the bottom to solder the black and white wires together and tape. Yet, it shows the black and white wires being attached to the push/pull switch on the neck, tone pot.

What gives?   ....thank you!

The Pickup Place / Out Of Phase Advice Needed
« on: July 10, 2016, 11:13:59 PM »
Super Distortion in the bridge. Humbucker from Hell in the neck. Gibson, Les Paul wired 1950's style.

All I want is to have the neck pup go out of phase when the toggle is in the center position.
I don't want push/pull pots.

Can someone explain what wires go where? Is there a schematic for this somewhere?

I know this may be so simple to some, but I don't want to screw this up! lol
Thanks guys,

The Pickup Place / Wait!
« on: July 06, 2016, 07:11:07 PM »
After doing my research I have decided on a Super D in the bridge and a Humbucker from Hell for the neck position on my '59 reissue. All in cream.

Now the b/s part. having to wait!!....Long & Mcquade here in Canada don't have those models in stock at the moment and have to order them from Dimarzio in Staten Island! If that's not bad enough, we are on the verge of a postal strike. I could order from the US, but once you factor in the dollar and shipping it's not worth the effort. Oh well. lol

I don't wait well!  ;)

The Pickup Place / Suoer D + Hum From Hell
« on: July 02, 2016, 01:13:12 PM »
Opinions needed.

Super D in the bridge and a Humbucker From Hell in the neck of a Les Paul Standard.

Are the two, too far apart in power and dynamics to be a tag team?

The Trading Post / Skatterbrane for SD?
« on: June 13, 2016, 05:18:09 PM »
I am looking for a Super Distortion from the 70's, and I have in return a boutique, Skatterbrane Earthbrane, bridge pickup, Zebra coil. I paid $220 for this pup. Anyone have a real SD that has not been altered in any way?

The Pickup Place / Whats the diff?

Do any of you lads know why some DMZ pups use the traditional slotted screws & slugs, while
others use allen screws all around?
