early DP100 super distortion

hi all

newby here

i have been given a 1970's super distortion humbucker reading 14.45 ohms

i was wondering what sort of wire they wind them with someone told me it was 43 awg formvar

and there is 5000 turns on the bobbin i was also told it was enameled red wire

does anybody know about this or where i can find the info

That person is totally wrong. It’s 6,500 turns of 44AWG poly wire. DiMarzio doesn’t use Formvar wire.

A standard PAF style pickup is 5,000 turns of 42.
