I am trying to find more info. about DiMarzio pickups and it is not easy. I am looking at the PG13s and the neck version says "The coils are individually tuned to capture overtones that resemble a single-coil yet maintain low-end definition." What does that mean? Are there individual coils for each magnet/string? or 2 bobbins? And does that mean that the neck pickup should placed in the guitar with the screws closer to the neck? (because the individual coil for the high e strings needs to be under the high e string) Does the bridge version of the PG13 have a similar build?  Help

The Pickup Place / PG13s for Epiphone Casino Coupe

Wow. I had no idea this forum existed. I'm glad I found it.

I played an Epiphone Casino Coupe in Woodstock N.Y. and it was awesome. I raved about it, but didn't buy it because I don't like to make quick decisions. Besides, I have too many guitars. Anyway, for Christmas that year, my fiance bought me one. I love the guitar, it is a perfect fit for me and the sound is really good also, but I thought to myself, if I can get the sound a tiny bit clearer, it would be perfect. So began my quest. I can not fit humbuckers in there, and I toyed around with the idea of buying a second Casino Coupe to route out and experiment on, but ultimately decided against it at least for now. It has P90s in it, which I am a fan of, but not for what I am using this guitar for - jazz. I bought a pickup ring that converts P90 to single coil and tried the best single coil I own (Fralin Blues Special) but it is not the right sound. Now I am looking at mini humbuckers. I found a good deal on Gibson minis and tested them out, and they are definitely in the right direction - clear but fuller than a single coil. If I could find something a little fuller (meaning more bass and mids, like a humbucker sound) that would be perfect.

I have all but decided to purchase a PG13. One of the reasons is that it has screws to adjust the pole pieces. But I have been on the fence about which one to get - bridge or neck version? From reading the descriptions, it sounds like I should go with the neck, but when I see the specs it looks like the bridge would be better. They both contain the same ceramic type magnet, but the bridge has more resistance, bass, and mid levels according to the DiMarzio chart. I can not find many sound samples on youtube except for Mr. Gilbert playing some crazy leads and some foreign dude with a pointy 3 pickup guitar.

So if anyone has some experience with the PG13s or advice on choosing one, I'm all ears.
