Back in the 80s they couldn’t give a Gibby away until G’nR came along.  Then all of a sudden you couldn’t afford a Gibson. Never mind that Slash wasn’t even playing a real Les Paul in those early vids.
I got a GL-200 k for my birthday from my wife and love it.  I never could afford a Kamikaze so she saw it bought it and gave it to me as a gift three months later. Thing plays great, and the “Lynch u” shaped neck is just awesome.

It doesn’t play/sound nice for a $500 guitar. It hangs with my much more expensive axes.

I am happy for you. Of all things that I have always had the hardest time with, it was always a low gain, semi-distorted tone. I found it in the Fulldrive 2 Mosfet. I am glad you found your Excaliber too.

I am fixing to (that's a literal term for those of us below the Mason Dixon line) leave for vacation so i just wanted to wish everyone stateside a fun and safe 4th of July. If you drink, let someone else drive, and please, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Also remember fireworks are dangerous, and fire is fast.

That's quite a list. I agree with you on Adrian Smith. Him and Dave Murray both had such a great lead tone. I like Rabbea as well. Mark Knopfler. That guy and Chet Atkins are tops in that country lead thing. If you like Mark, check out some of Glen Campbell. He really was a beast of a guitarist. Dude could also shred when he wanted to.

I have a cheap little RG 220 that my brother bought as a project and lost interest in so he gave it to me. I think these would be perfect for that axe.

I would be happy with the returns of classic rock.  It can’t get any better than that.  The Beatles took music from other genres and some of those songs were popular.

For the wiring scheme, you best bet is to get a looper/ backing tracks and play rhythm and solos through the tracks.  For me, you only use positions which makes your instrument cut through the mix.

Here is a 2019 PRS which has over 30 pickup combinations. There was no mention of a phase/out of phase switching which would add several more sounds.   https://youtu.be/34vpqE4wBOE

So did Roy Clark (yes Hee Haw’s Roy Clark), Glenn Campbell, Eric Johnson. We all do. And much like you, even though I ‘m a metal/instrumental rock guy, the return of classic rock wouldn’t hurt my feelings in the least. I have ALWAYS liked the Beatles. When I was a kid my mom would spin Revolver over and over. Such a great record.

Back on subject, my favorite switching is my Big Apple Strat. Two buckets 5 way super, and I get bridge full in, split, the inner coils of bridge and neck, neck split, neck full on. It is my “one guitar for any gig” axe. Yes it does require using a compressor to compensate for volume drops on the splits, BUT, set right, you don’t really hear the compressor until it’s off.

Going parallel, and having all the in and out of phase, is like a few posted kind of redundant.

I too like what Tosin is doing. Periphery isn’t my cup o tea. They just act like they’re trying too hard. I know it’s part of their whole persona, the whole self aware overboard thing, but they just unnerve me. To each their own.

I live this “the reality of this younger generation is we don’t play this blues scale anything because we have evolved”. From people that probably weren’t there and are either regurgitating something they heard or are just making up an erroneous statement.

I know I am reading like I’m trolling, but I am not. I just love the whole idea that they are somehow doing something new that nobody else is or has. So here’s my potshot: Before you take a stab at someone because of their tag on a forum, try and make sure that a) they aren’t trying to give you advice from having been there and done that and b) that your statement or little off the cuff remark has some basis in fact.

If your generation has evolved playing so much,  then please by all means show me these new “evolved”  and “exotic” scales and modes that have been unlocked so the rest of us old guys can quit playing pentatonic.😂

I thin I would opt for the traditional switch and the push/pull pots.

I agree with you on the whole marketing approach they are taking. Especially w/ the aforementioned hipsters. Nothing about those two is prompting me to spend a dime. I think with the boutique builders coming up, and the kind of “cork sniffing” consensus of some sites that suggest that Larry and Seymour are kind of low brow (not my opinion at all), and that a pickup costing less than their $200 early P.A.F. replica is junk isn’t helping get people to Larry even though Dimarzio has some TERRIFIC stuff. I may be misremembering the 80s and I don’t have an old brochure in front of me, but it seems the catalog of readily available pickups has shrunk. I could be VERY wrong about that so nobody hold my feet to the flame on that last statement.

I am constantly reminding people in other sites about my era when you went into a brick and mortar store and had a choice of Dimarzio, Duncan, or maybe Bill Lawrence. Then EMG became the trend, but still mainly Larry or Seymour.  Like I said, I could be very wrong, but it seems as though the Dimarzio pickup catalog has shrunk. Did they get rid of some slow or non sellers? I would be willing to bet yes. BUT....When you have a large number of people telling you with their ears that you left a gap by getting rid of something, it might be worth a looksie. I am considering buying four or five double whammys before they decide to stop doing them through the custom shop. To my ears, even though they say the TZ covers that ground, it just doesn’t seem to do it as smoothly.

Bark at the moon. Hadn’t heard that album in a long time. Put it in last week and can’t stop listening. Jake just never seemed to get the credit he deserved. Great album, great playing.
