Hi, any news about new sig pickup for Joe Satriani - Satchur8 maybe it's Alnico8 based???
-
No official info from DMZ but Ibanez says it's passive alnico 8 pickup on the bridge coupled with sustainiac on the neck.
He didnt answered what kind of output it was but Im guessing he just has no clue about it. My guess, probably around Paf PRO output with A8.

I've only heard something related to the name they settled on for this Pickup.
In the end, I think Satchur8 is much much cooler.

Bump. Still no details, anyone?
-
Ibanez wiki - 0 info. :(
I was wondering the same thing. Really interested in Satchur 8.

looks as if a few with the original name slipped through the cracks.

Bump. Anyone?
I don't want to have to buy the guitar just to review the pickup...but I will.
-
Mine should be arriving within the week (I hope).

Hi, Thanks for your interest. The Satchtur8 is finished (Joe's been touring with it) and I'll probably release it by the end of Aug. I'm still refining the PAF 59 but it is out on the road this summer with several artists.
Hope that helps,
Larry DiMarzio

Will get some readings this evening.
Busy week, but will try to get it installed before end of weekend. Have a guitar loaded with a FRED and a PAF Joe that I'll put it in for a better relative idea of how it fits into the lineup of Satch models.

Just over 13k resistance. Pretty high coil offset.

Looking forward to hear more.

showed up at 2017 NAMM, name changed and released mid-2017, and they just sent out a media release for it just in time for 2018 NAMM. on the DiMarzio site, it shows a 2017 release date.
maybe it's just posturing for NAMM?
anyhoo... my review of it has been up since July at http://darthphineas.com/2018/01/dimarzio-releases-satchur8-dp273-humbucker/

DiMARZIO RELEASES SATCHUR8™ HUMBUCKING GUITAR PICKUP
Staten Island, N.Y., January 17, 2018 – DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the Satchur8™ (DP273F) hum-canceling pickup for electric guitars.
These days, you can get humbuckers tuned for just about any specific sound — modern, vintage, warm, bright — from blistering harmonics to hammering chug. The Satchur8™ was designed for guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, and it has an expressive attack with a warm, sweet singing lead tone. It can go big when you need it and get quiet when you back off.
When we started this project, we chose an Alnico 8 magnet because it has lots of output, with a buttery smooth mid-range, deep, full-bodied bass, and a warm, singing solo tone that suits Joe’s playing style. Additionally, the coils were tuned to Joe’s sound. The rich output of the Alnico 8 magnet makes the Satchur8™ great for hot humbucking tones.
The Satchur8™ is smooth yet bright, with plenty of clarity and distinction. It’s loaded with dynamics, and notes have weight and authority. Joe says the Satchur8™ is the richest, most complete sounding pickup he’s ever used. “I wish we could just say, ‘This pickup sounds effing great!’”
The Satchur8™ is available in F-spacing only.
DiMarzio’s Satchur8™ pickup is made in the U.S.A. and may now be ordered for immediate delivery. Suggested List Price is $114.99 each (MAP $79.99). For more information about the new Satchur8™ pickup, please visit our website at www.dimarzio.com.

I should ask for a unit for review. Looks interesting.
EDIT: Merged the official press release with the former discussion thread.
