You might look into using a tubescreamer-style pedal as a booster, as that would remedy the "little muddy,no saturation, and a little dull" problem nicely. TZ and PAF Pro are a great combo already, I don't know if you can get what you want out of a modded Marshall just by changing pickups.

Same length, a bit narrower. They fit into humbucker routes and you can buy the right rings to cover the empty space from TV Jones.

The Pickup Place / New Filtertrons from DiMarzio!

This is unexpected, and very welcome:

The SD/PAF retrofits in 'tron housing are smart, but I'm especially interested in their own take on the actual Filtertron sound. They're always been great at taking a classic and subtly improving it.

The Pickup Place / Re: PG-13 Middle in Bridge

Thanks, DBM  :)

Yes, in theory it would work. But as you know some pickup pairings just click, and some just don't, and it's hard to tell until one tries. The PG-13 Neck would seem the most obvious choice, but it looks somewhat dark from the chart and from the Gilbert demo videos (which isn't saying a lot, and I've found another video where it sounds pretty great in fact).

It's rare to see Ray so pumped about a pickup, and if they also happen to work great together (both when switching from one to another and used together in the middle position) it could be a pretty killer combo.

Hi Ray, I'm thinking about pickups for my SG. Do you think that the PG-13 Middle would go well with the older DP240 Vintage Minibucker in the neck? I remember you raving about it.

Yes, I googled a bit and the last letter is the color (B for black, etc). It's strange, as the two bottom labels are completely different, one has the model and all the patents numbers and one has not, almost as if it was an OEM model or an earlier or later run.

I'm about to buy an Area 58 off a set of two. One is labeled DP415W on the bottom, the other just DP415. Is there any difference between them?
