Title: Gold Plating Single Coil Poles

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum.

I'm wondering if anybody has tried gold plating the poles of Alnico 2 /5 single coil pickups?

I've just ordered a custom Air Norton and Tone Zone with gold pickup poles to go in my Ibanez S1540, but it seems a little weird for the middle single coil (which is a True Velvet) to be plain.

This is also true of the Ibanez Jem 7v - the ISCV2 has plain pieces rather than gold pieces.

I know the poles are the magnets themselves, but could gold plating them damage the pickup or have a massive effect on the tone?
