Title: Resistor Mods
Post by: BluesJam on September 05, 2021, 01:58:34 AM
Has anyone tried placing a fixed resistor in their wiring to alter the sound of a pickup?

I’ve only shunted humbucker series connections through resistors and capacitors on the way to ground. Any examples of what you’re referring to, or just asking hypothetically?

Yes, I do that all the time in order to tailor the sound of a pickup - which I basically like in a guitar - to that guitar. Mostly it is in a guitar with a 500k volume pot where I add a resistor to ground (can be anything from 470k to 2.2meg) to achieve what I want. I cannot give a specific value as recommendation but resistors are cheap so it is worth experimenting.
