Difference between "W"-labeled Areas and not
« on: August 27, 2021, 07:53:19 AM »
I'm about to buy an Area 58 off a set of two. One is labeled DP415W on the bottom, the other just DP415. Is there any difference between them?

Yes, I googled a bit and the last letter is the color (B for black, etc). It's strange, as the two bottom labels are completely different, one has the model and all the patents numbers and one has not, almost as if it was an OEM model or an earlier or later run.

Should just be labelling for the cover that comes with them.

Yes - W is for white, BK for black, and CR for creme. I think the only other label I have seen is AW, which probably stands for antique white.

I have bought a set of white and black covers years ago so I can swap to match any color scheme I want and pretty much can ignore whatever cover a 2nd hand pickup is sold with.

Cheers Stephan
