I used the Custom 5 in my Les Paul when I had it and I loved it. The Alnico 5 magnet got rid of the brittle high end. Great pickup for metal.

I would not recommend the Jazz. Especially for metal. For Jazz. Yes. For metal. No.

I put in a Duncan Distortion in the neck position that worked quite well for me.

I have since gone back to playing a Stratocaster.

The Pickup Place / Is the Area 58 thicker?

Just wondering if the Area 58 gives a slightly thicker tone than the Area 67? I have the Area 67 and I think it's great but an considering acquiring the Area 58.

I'm just assuming it gives a bit thicker tone.

I would be using it in the neck.
