50’s Volume Pot Wiring
« on: September 16, 2020, 04:25:51 PM »
I was wondering if 50’s style wiring can be done to a volume pot, instead of a treble bleed circuit.  I don’t want a tone pot.  I like the natural roll off of the 50’s wiring over the treble bleed.  I’m looking for some options/ideas.  Thanks!

Here is a link showing the differences between 50s wiring and modern wiring.

As you see, the difference lies in the way the tone pot is wired. This means if you do not have a tone pot, you can only simulate one by inserting a 0.022uf cap from the volume output (center lug), connect the other end of the cap to a 470k resistor and connect the other end of the 470k resistor to ground. There is the 50s wiring with an invisible tone pot that is always on 10.

Thanks Stephan!   I had a feeling that was probably the solution..,,similar to Esquires.  Do you think that this solution would be a nice natural roll off on the volume pot?

Thanks!!!!🍺

Possibly. I would just try it - it is a very inexpensive experiment.
