In that case, stick with the Super Distortion, but why not stick the Tone Zone in another guitar or do you just have the one?

I think the early Dimarzios might have had different color codes.

any humbucker with a 4 conductor wire can be split. I don't think the D-Activator is any different.

Try installing the tone zone, you don't know what you might be missing.

When a tube amp starts to give youa ringning sound when you add more gain, it's usually a sign one of your tubes is on it's way out.

The Roland Microcube is too loud?? Now that's a first for me! But can't you just plug in a set of headphones into the microcube?

Air Zone and Air Norton, but the norton is good too if you want more of that 80's sounding mid heavy tone.

The Pickup Place / Re: Tone Zone + mahogany?
« on: December 19, 2008, 08:37:34 pm »
I always thought that the tone zone would be a little too muddy in mahogany but I heard it in an Ibanez RG that had a mahogany body and it sounded pretty darn good to me. Here's a better question for you guys. What wood DOESN'T go good with the tone zone?

Plywood.

LOL!!! I'm sure the tone zone would even make plywood sound good. Didn't Paul Gilbert get Ibanez to make him a guitar out of a plywood skid with a tone zone in it?

The Pickup Place / Paf 36th Bridge
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:24:20 pm »
Once again I'm on my trek to find the ultimate set of pickups for my PRS Custom 24. The stock Vintage Bass/HFS pickups aren't bad and I really like the sound of the air zone/air norton but I'm thinking of getting a Paf 36th in the neck to see how it sounds. I'm just not too sure about the bridge pickup. Anyone try the Paf 36th bridge in a les paul, PRS or similar type of guitar and care to comment on how it sounds? I'm looking for something where I can get some nice vintage tones but also be able to pull off some Rush stuff.

You can probably custom order it from Dimarzio directly.
