The Pickup Place / 24" scale length
« on: May 27, 2013, 11:53:33 am »
hi folks,

i just wondered if anyone had experience or recommendations for a 24" scale length guitar, its alder body with maple/rosewood neck, fixed bridge its quite a bright guitar yet muddy in the bass,i stuck a tz in it but as you can imagine this did not help with the muddy bass strings!
ideally medium/high output but not too bothered.

thanks

The Pickup Place / wiring
« on: January 01, 2013, 11:11:46 am »
although not a pickup question does anyone know the correct wire that goes from the input jack to the volume pot?
i cant seem to find it anywhere and using other wire such as guitar lead has a dramatic effect on the guitar sound(anyone know why?)
thanks.

The Pickup Place / twin volume pot
« on: March 16, 2012, 02:36:50 pm »
hi all
does anyone know if its possible to use a twin volume pot setup?
i want to use a 500k vol pot for the bridge only and 250k pot for the middle and neck only.
this is for a h/s/s strat,i wont be using the tone pot.
i have seen the at wiring diagram on the dimarzio site but it shows the main volume as a master volume so not sure if thats controlling all 3 pups or just the bridge.
if anyone thinks this is possible would they have wiring info as well?
thanks.

The Pickup Place / at-1
« on: March 05, 2012, 01:19:16 pm »
hi,
is it just me or does the at-1 have a kind of honkiness in the lower mids/bass?
ive just replaced the tone zone because the bass was a bit too thumpy, now everytime i get near the bass strings i can hear this annoying honky frequency.
the rest of the at-1 sounds great to me,lovely touch and crunchy mids with smooth treble.
i`ve tried just about every pickup in this guitar that i think would be suitable, the air classic sounded the best but lacked the touch i like from higher output pups.
btw this is a alder body/maple cap, maple neck/rosewood board 25" scale length with ibanez lo pro trem.
any thoughts?

The Pickup Place / suggestions please!
« on: December 12, 2011, 10:26:58 am »
hi all
well after months of searching i finally bought a breed bridge and its still not what i am after :'(
i contacted dimarzio months ago telling them i loved the tone zone but not the trouser flapping bass when i hit the 5th/6th strings.imo the treble and mids are just right,so the dimarzio tech recommended the breed but it is all thick mids, and although it is nice it lacks what i liked about the tz.
my perfect pup would be a cross between an evo and a tz,output/bass from evo,mids/treble from tz.i already have an alder body guitar with evos which i really like but would like something slightly different.
any suggestions?

this is going in a maple capped alder body, maple neck rosewood fb and is a reasonably bright guitar.25inch scale lenth and i use carvin legacy amps.

The Pickup Place / neck single coil
« on: October 01, 2011, 12:09:56 pm »
hi all,
while i know alot about humbuckers i no nothing about single coils and after joining a 70`s disco cover band i really am looking for that single coil strat sound and wondered if anyone here had any recommendations.
will be neck position only in an alder body/maple neck rosewood f/board.
i have read else where that a fender custom shop `69 will do the trick for that nile rodgers sound but i would much rather use dimarzio where possible but they have so many choices.
any help/advice much appreciated.
