The Trading Post / FS: Ibanez RG8 with Ionizers - All white
« on: March 16, 2018, 03:59:09 AM »
Hey folks, I've decided my stubby fingers no longer have to endure the torture of 8 strings so I'm selling my RG. I'd like to sell it for around $400 as the pickups are worth $200 or so alone.

You can check out pictures on reverb here:

Thanks for the recommendations, I really want to get rid of the hum though, I can't stand it especially with an overdrive pedal.

The Pickup Place / New P-90 for epiphone es-339
« on: September 07, 2015, 05:21:45 AM »
Hi guys
I recently got a new epi 339 with p-90s and I've really been digging it so far, the thing is the neck pickup is louder than the bridge and has a lot more bass. The pickup height isn't really adjustable and I have kinda been wanting something hum canceling anyways. So I figured I could balance the output by switching to a mini humbucker or virtual p-90 in the bridge and just keep the neck pickup (and tolerate the hum in that position)

I'm looking for something vintage voiced, the Kings of Leon inspired me to get this guitar and I know Caleb uses mini humbuckers. I'm not to hung up on getting a "real" p-90 sound from the bridge, just not full on humbucker, I have plenty of other guitars that do that just fine.

Thanks for any help!
EDIT: I forgot to mention the guitar has soap bar routes not dog ears like other epiphones, so mini HBs and dimarzio soap bars are all fair game.

I redid everything today and found that the hum was coming from the injector. I wired it straight to the jack and it hums like a standard single coil. Should I send it back to Dimarzio?

So I went to plug it in today and no sound comes from either pickup and the guitar hums when I touch anything metal on it. I might just end up redoing all the wiring ugh

Thanks for the help! It turned out a bit of solder made its way into the switch and was causing the neck pu to not go to ground.
Now I just need to find some time to play the new Injector ;D

I like the breed neck better than the paf pro. It's got a bit more mids and splits coils better in my opinion. Its very fat and creamy and pairs better with high output pickups better than the 36th paf. Just my 2ยข, you really can't go wrong, I own all the pickups mentioned in this thread and they are all fantastic

I love my d activator 7, it's fuller sounding than the 6 string version I also own. I highly recommend it for metal, it's tight on the 7th string and overdrives the amp hard. I have a liquifire 7 in the neck and I think it's my favorite neck pu for straight up metal, very fluid and nice definition in the pick attack.
I would also recommend the ionizer set, but I only have the 8 string version. It feels like a more balanced d activator, it has a more balanced eq curve and keeps the low strings nice and chuggy without being boomy.

Thanks Stephan. The other pickup is a HB and quiet. I only have one volume, maybe it's a bad switch or worse, a bad pickup

The Pickup Place / Injector hum

Hey guys I installed an injector neck in my guitar today and it's humming like crazy, not exactly the "noiseless strat" sound I was expecting. I tried rewiring it and same result, loud hum. I have the black and white wires soldered together and the red to hot and the green to ground. Any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been listening to some demos of these pickups and was wondering if the cruiser bridge or injector was brighter. My guitar is a bit dark, hence why I opted to take out the breed and air norton
