Gear Closet / Re: So I have a few delays and swirly things

Nothing wrong with chorus, or Boss. In fact, they will have to pry my BF-2 circa 1985 out of my cold, dead hands. I'm gonna have to get a Super Chorus for my low tech pedal board to compliment my Afterglow. I also have a rack (AdA MP1 and Digitech Studio 100) and the ADA chorus gets used a LOT.

A belated Merry Christmas, and an  on time Happy New Year. I think we ALL will be glad to have 2020 in the rear view.

Center Stage / It's a little after Christmas but...
« on: December 31, 2020, 11:44:43 AM »
So I was in the middle of recording a Christmas album when we had a terrible health scare with my wife. Thankfully she is home and doing great. So I only got one song done, and it's late. It's a medley of Amazing Grace and Greensleeves. I had already posted a rough one of Amazing Grace but wholly inteded to have it go straight into Greensleeves. So after much time (we had a pipe burst and destroyed our floors 2 wks after Debbie came home from the hospital which resulted in everything going into the studio for the estimates/repairs-when it rains.....) Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2021 PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSE in no way, shape, or form resemble 2020 (although for those of us who are old enough to remember, the original Mad Max was based in the year 2021-guess I shouldn't have put that out there in the universe).

Here it is: https://acadams.bandcamp.com/album/dont-infringe-upon-christmas

The Pickup Place / Re: pickups for my esp E2 s2

Have you thought about trying a 250k pots before scrapping the SH4/SH2? They were really designed to run on 250k pots as one memeber pointed out to me when I had a similar situation with almost the exact same tonewood combo. The 250K really settled down that harsh spike on the JB. That being said, like others have mentioned, the Tone Zone would be a good great bridge pickup. I think the online rep it has for being a mud bomb are really unwarranted as I have had great results with it and found it to articulate pretty nicely while still having some umph.

I almost forgot. That is one beautiful guitar, mate.

The Pickup Place / Re: my experience with two Dimarzios and maybe advice

I agree with the Norton or the Fred. I think what you are experiencing is the different resonant peaks of two different pickups. Both the Fred and the Norton really pick up with upper harmonics well. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

I would hazard a guess that the amp was set pretty bright (possibly with the bright switch on). I think there are a few more things coming into play than just the pickups. I have played a Govan signature and found it to be, for lack of a better term, "balanced". At least through what I played it through in person.

Have you given the Gravity storm a listen?

The Pickup Place / Re: Ordering directly from Dimarzio

I only checked one retailer besides DiMarzio, but it appears to be around $7-$10.

I have tried everything short of contacting DiMarzio directly. I am usually pretty good at data mining, but have come up empty handed on this one which is pretty odd. Hopefully someone that's a little more "on the inside" will chime in for you

Very nice rendition that doesn't lose the melody. Good job! I am in the process of recording an instrumental Christmas album so I can really appreciate what you did with Silent Night.
