The Pickup Place / Area T Hot rehousing project
« on: October 03, 2019, 05:51:57 AM »
I've been searching for a long time an ultimate hss configuration. Since a few years I've beed using Reverse Polarity Injector, neck as a middle pickup and Injector Neck. Still experimenting with a bridge pickup. Couple of HBs works just fine but I still want to hear some HBpower with single coil attack and no hum. New rehoused Area Hot T is on the way to me. Hope that it'll rocks. Photo in attachment.

The Pickup Place / Re: Less midrangey alternative to AT-1?
« on: May 20, 2019, 06:44:51 AM »
Dear Stephan exact problem here with 2x injector and bridge in alder body hss. Now I'm using other brand 12k a5 hb similar to AT-1. To little attack and too midrange'y also. I've tried Trasition Neck in bridge slot. Attack is better definetely, but overall it's too bright pickup to balance well with injectors. 12k ceramic pickup might be the way, maybe you (we) should replace magnet for ceramic in at-1..Thinking about puting area t hot in humbucker housing, are maybe buying sth like humbucker with 12pcs of alnico rods. A8 is not good idea IMO. Too much compression causes lack of attack. Tried 18k A8 pickup with injectors and didn't work.

The Pickup Place / Transition Neck DP254 FBK as a Bridge Pickup
« on: April 23, 2019, 04:09:59 AM »
Finally I've got F spaced version of Transition Neck, and installed it in bridge position of my HSS Axe with Reverse Polarity Injector Neck in the middle position, ane Injector Neck as a neck pickup.  Wiring as follows: 5. Bridge series, 4. Bridge south coil+middle top (north) coil, 3. Bridge north+Neck top (south), 2. Neck[img]+middle top coils, 1. Neck. All positions hum cancelling. DP 254 is very fast, has some serious attack without being overall compressed. Seems to be the best of both worlds. - it has punch but it isn't high output pickup. Highly reccomend!

The Pickup Place / Re: Dimarzio Injector - also for vintage sounds

Definetely darkbluemurder. 1mohm vol pot+kinman treble bleed (I'm using micro pot in bleed circuit instead of resistor to fine tune).

Definetely check Injector Neck with...1MOhm volume pot. Don't believe in myths, jutr try!-very focused sound, tight bass, open (not shrill) highs.

Injector Neck defenitely. Pls try wiring connection like this. Bridge, Bridge paralell, Both, Bridge north coil (slug) paralell to top coil of injector, neck. Very versatile IMO...and NO...output difference won't be a problem. Incector is very dynamic pickup with weak magnetic field, so you can set it quite close to the strings.

The Pickup Place / Re: HSS configuration. what works best for you?

I have a lot of guitars with that setup and a lot of combinations of pickups in them.

The one that never fails to bring a smile to my face and make me really not want to put it down is AT-1 bridge with Injector neck in middle and neck, 500k pots, .0022uf tone cap, 20 pole 5 way so the AT-1 goes into parallel mode when in combination with the middle pup.  Fantastic sounds in every position, and the strat "quack" is all there in 2/4.  Very Texas except on the bridge only setting, when it is super fat/articulate.  Sort of like Scott Henderson's tone in the Face First/Reality Check Tribal Tech era.

I've  got regular Injector neck and I've just ordered custom RWRP Injector Neck (north up)  for Middle position. I'm gonna split them both in 4th position of my hss axe. We will see what happens. Should work brilliant.

Has anyone tried Transition Neck or Illumintor neck in bridge position? I'm using hss axe with injector neck, custom north up a5 single, and a8 bridge hb which is too hot. Dimarzio tech dept claims that transition neck should works. Whats your opinion guys?

Definetely incector neck. 160-mV + really close to the strings (has low magnet pull) will give you nice ballance with evo 2. Have to say that injector works great with 500k pot. Remamber that you can split injector (it's south up) in paralell with north coil of evo 2 - great strat in between sound.

Dear all, seriously reccomend trying splited Neck Injector paralell to another north up coil- sound incredibile. Previously I've been using Transition, Area 67 and injector - the 4th position was unsplitted. Upgraded middle pickup to custom wound north up single coil (injector is south up), now 4th sounds much more true. Futhermore in 3rd position I've got now north coil of bridge hb paralell to the top coil of injector - sounds like tele on steroids. Greetings from Poland!

The Pickup Place / Dimarzio BSC70M1 north or south up?
« on: May 16, 2016, 06:39:51 AM »
Dear Dimarzio fans. Do you know if  Dimarzio BSC70M1 is south or north up? I belive its oem version of blue velvet from middle position of music man silhouette special. Traditionally middle dimarzio singles are south up but...Regarding to the diagram from mm website in 2nd position bsc is connected with south (screw) coil of bridge hb-so should be north up. Any ideas?
