the neck pickup muddy? > 490R  ?

So, try the paf joe  ;) Satriani doesn't like the muddy sounds

what i don't like with the strat is the scale
i think a Gibson scale +  09 46 is a good choice  but rare to find with the strat
so> luthier :)

in the Dimarzio website there is a program to help us to find the best pickups

for me the transition pickups  are with ceramic: maybe they sound colder than the other but it depends on the guitar too
and  for me, if the guitar sounded "dark" "cold",  the best pickups of the world can not change this

hi
maybe you wanted to find like me the best super strat ever made  :)

the problems for me are about the sounds with the neck pickup
if you have a band or just at home, you can't be always satisfied with a moderate vintage neck pickup without any big sustain but with hum and without the warm tones of a humbucker like a PAF

they often put a single coil pickup for the neck position without thinking to the other side: the humbucker, the PAF tones we can like for the Blues and also for the neck position

so, we have some choices: sss or hss  and that's all !
for me it's not enough

both are not perfect

so, i suppose a boost can be good, a 25 db boost like Clapton or the one that Lukather has
but Lukather plays with his ceramic pickups and  i would prefer some alnico pickups
maybe some people have a LUKE II III here ?
About the Cutlass - silhouette : not perfect too cos' no boost inside

Another solution would be to change the wirings
or to add a boost to a cutlass:) not a bad idea but it needs a luthier to add the battery

Ibanez has the az2204 but not with DImarzio pickups
and i can think about some other pickups i can not talk about here lol

yes a guy said it was made in China and that the dsl1c (the old edition) was better
i notice the deep switch is not there in 2018

and before, we had 2 switches and now just 1

but the price was higher too (made in UK)

i read that one man said that this amp was not made in UK and so, it would be bad

i juste notice that  the older version has the "deep switch" and not in this amp

it seems that he wanted to sound like a LP with a JS :)

like his paf joe which was made for that too (alnico 5)

Guitar Lounge / Re: Stratocaster tuning secret
« on: January 12, 2018, 07:01:53 AM »
i did that but my luthier told me it was not necessary

it is made to make some special bends with the bar like Jeff Beck

a tuning secret is to have a good nut
graphite for example
locking tuners like SPerzel
the same distance in  mm that the Jeff Beck signature has or to do carefully what the manual says in mm for the tremolo between the tremolo unit and the body to make all the effects with th bar as a floating tremolo
After that, there are not big problems except for the big big bends

hi
if you see this guitar, you will see that this one is again with a basswood body
why ?

i prefer when there was an alder body like his last guitars
so, for the price, it is strange

Second, the guitar for his last cd is great = this guitar has a mirror body like before and 24 frets /sustainer

try with mine too
the Norton : the perfect mix between the fred and tone zone

The Pickup Place / Re: EMG 81 vs EMG 85

no
false
the 81 is usually in the bridge position
it's a classic combo
85 neck
81 bridge

like what Zack Wylde has

in the sd group, one said  that the dc resistance was very relative
and we had  not
to pay more attention than this
