Doing some forum maintenance. Decided to prune out members that not have logged in for 1500 days which is about 4 years. If anyone used to have an account here, hasn't logged in for a looooooong time. Odds are you'll have to create a new account.

News & New Guys / Posting new topics
« on: December 24, 2019, 12:28:27 AM »
I've noticed that there's quite a bit of a delay when posting new topics as opposed to responding to threads. I'm currently working on addressing the issue.

I've managed to improve the time it takes to post a new topic but it's far from perfect. Please allow the server a few minutes to process the request.

News & New Guys / Spam and Spammers
« on: December 23, 2019, 11:59:16 PM »
I've been working on the whole spam situation here. It's still largely a manual process but if anyone sees any spam posts, please report the post so I can address them better.

Currently looking into possibly migrating the forums to some new software or at least a new version of the existing software but any help with the spam issue would be greatly appreciated.

News & New Guys / Just had a stroke
« on: August 05, 2019, 07:15:53 PM »
Sooo... last Wednesday July 31, I ended up going to the hospital for a minor stroke while I was at work. This is the second one I've had and I'm only 37! Clearly let too much stress pile up.

I'm going to be taking a fair amount of time away from everything to recover. In the mean time I'm looking for a couple of volunteers who'd like to help moderate this place while I vanish.

I'll also be liquidating some pickups and gear soon to help pay for medical expenses as well as a possible GoFundMe campaign. So please keep a look out for it.

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio PG-13 Middle Pickup

Got this from DiMarzio. New Mini bucker designed for the middle position

###

Staten Island, N.Y., July 2, 2019 -- DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the PG-13™ Middle (DP246) mini humbucking pickup for electric guitars.

The PG-13™ mini humbuckers were developed for Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big.

Being on the road with Mr. Big can be challenging when it comes to tones because there are so many different styles the band plays — acoustic ballads, heavy songs, fast songs, bluesy songs — and Paul needs pickups that allow him to achieve all of those sounds.

Paul wanted a middle pickup to add to the Neck (DP242) and Bridge (DP243) models to make a complete PG-13™ set.

To clear the way for picking, the middle pickup’s height needed to be set lower, but the pickup’s volume still had to be comparable to the neck and bridge pickups. We used a combination of rare earth (neodymium) and alnico magnets to increase the output of the PG-13™ Middle in order to level match the pickups. When combined with the PG-13™ Neck and Bridge, the PG-13™ Middle adds a nice new flavor that fills out the minibucker set.

The PG-13™ Middle features 4-conductor wiring, neodymium and alnico magnets, and height adjustment screws for the pole pieces.

DiMarzio’s PG-13™ Middle is made in the U.S.A. and may now be ordered for immediate delivery. Suggested List Price is $134.99 (MAP $99.99). For more information about the new PG-13™ Middle mini humbucking pickup, please visit our website at  www.dimarzio.com.

The Pickup Place / DiMarzio releases Sugar Chakra pickup
« on: May 11, 2019, 01:34:56 PM »
(note: I thought I had posted this last week but I can't seem to see it so I'm reposting this just in case)

Staten Island, N.Y., May 6, 2019 – DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the Sugar Chakra™ (DP427) pickup for electric guitars. The Sugar Chakra™ was developed for Phil Collen of Def Leppard.

An iconic player needs iconic pickups; that’s why world-renowned guitarist, Phil Collen, has used DiMarzio pickups exclusively for over 40 years. When he asks a question that starts with “What if …?,” you make it happen!

Phil wanted a single coil sized pickup with the weight and attack of a full-sized humbucker, yet still retaining clarity.

Sugar Chakra™ is a thick, creamy pickup with crunchy mids, designed to feel like a full-sized humbucker in single coil form. The top end is smooth with mids that bite just enough to cut through the mix.

Phil road tested the Sugar Chakra™ on the G3 tour with Joe Satriani and John Petrucci. He says, “It’s just really clear and precise but it’s got all the balls and the fire power. It’s gonna be awesome as a new addition to the DiMarzio family.”

DiMarzio’s Sugar Chakra™ is made in the U.S.A. and may now be ordered for immediate delivery. Suggested List Price is $119.99 (MAP $84.99). For more information about the new Sugar Chakra™ pickup, please visit our website at www.dimarzio.com.

DiMARZIO RELEASES IGNO™ HUMBUCKING PICKUP

Staten Island, N.Y., March 25, 2019 – DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the IGNO™ (DP285F) humbucking pickup for electric guitars.

The new IGNO™ pickup was developed for Scott LePage of Polyphia.

Polyphia’s sound is characterized by sleek, upbeat melodies and catchy hooks that have been described variously as progressive, djent, funky, melodic, EDM, and trap. They don’t quite fit into any existing category. Mostly they’re just having fun, making unique music that is inspired by stuff they love.

Scott LePage wanted a bridge pickup that had the power to dig in when needed. Alnico 8 was used to increase the output. The IGNO™ features DiMarzio’s dual resonance design with both coils scatter wound to produce a warm response that’s not too high in the mids. This keeps the clarity and separation between the treble and bass.

DiMarzio’s IGNO™ pickup features black bobbins with distinctive gold pole pieces.

DiMarzio’s IGNO™ Bridge is made in the U.S.A. and may now be ordered for immediate delivery. Suggested List Price is $129.99 (MAP $89.99). For more information about the new IGNO™ humbucking pickup, please visit our website at www.dimarzio.com.

The IGNO™ is available in F-spacing only.

DiMARZIO RELEASES NOTORIOUS™ MINIBUCKER BRIDGE, NECK & MIDDLE PICKUPS

Staten Island, N.Y., March 25, 2019 – DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the Notorious™ Minibucker Bridge (DP283), Notorious™ Neck (DP284), and Notorious™ Middle (DP284S) pickups for electric guitars.

The new Notorious™ pickups were developed for Tim Henson of Polyphia.

Tim wanted the Notorious™ Minibucker Bridge to have moderate output in order to balance with his Notorious™ single coils in the neck and middle. This bridge pickup needed to have shimmering clarity and focus to capture his playing style. The Notorious™ Minibucker Bridge is the one that Tim likes to shred on.

Tim likes the clarity and focus of a vintage single coil in a 21-fret guitar and wanted to capture the same response and tone in his 24-fret signature guitar. The Notorious™ Neck and Middle single coils are voiced to roll off some treble to make up for the brighter location. Calibrated, degaussed Alnico 5 magnets capture the dynamics of vintage single coils. Tim says the Notorious™ Neck and Middle are “great for chords and ringing notes that hold through each other.”

The Notorious™ Neck and Middle are a splendid choice when you are searching for the dynamics of vintage pickups but prefer a smoother top end to even out some harshness in a bright guitar.

Tim shares that most of the time he’s on the fourth position, with the neck and middle pickups together, saying “I like to play Hendrixian-type riffs with it.”

The balanced output of DiMarzio’s Notorious™ pickups is calibrated to blend together, and all three pickups feature gold covers.

DiMarzio’s Notorious™ Minibucker Bridge, Neck, and Middle Model pickups are made in the U.S.A. and may now be ordered for immediate delivery. Suggested List Price for the Notorious™ Minibucker Bridge is $134.99 (MAP $99.99) and the Notorious™ Neck and Middle are $129.99 (MAP $89.99) each. For more information about the new Notorious™ pickups, please visit our website at www.dimarzio.com.

News & New Guys / Server outage
« on: February 11, 2019, 07:28:47 AM »
Just wanted to apologize for the server outage over the weekend.

The datacenter that this server is hosted on ran into some hardware failures and even though we have been migrated to a new machine, both the logical database and the database server had problems with corrupted data/files so that just magnified the issue.

Hopefully everything is working now.... *Hopefully* I still haven't tested to ensure everything works yet.

Known for his playing style that mixes rock, blues, jazz, fusion, and soul, Richie Kotzen is a stellar singer, songwriter, and guitar player. « on: April 12, 2018, 10:55:52 PM »
Got this last week and finally found the time to post it here. I'm very tempted to give these humbuckers a try.

###

Staten Island, N.Y., April 6, 2017 – DiMarzio, Inc. announces the release of the Pandemonium™ Neck (DP276F) and Bridge (DP277F) humbucking pickups for electric guitars.

The new Pandemonium™ humbuckers were developed for sensational guitarist Nita Strauss. Nita is known for hard rocking metal. She wanted a modern take on a classic rock sound.

The coils on the Pandemonium™ Neck Model are tuned far enough apart to create clean, open mids with sweet highs and lows. It can go from smooth solos to pristine, dynamic chords.

The Pandemonium™ Bridge Model is a modern take on the classic rock pickup, with a big voice that covers a lot of ground. The coils are tuned to slightly different frequencies to capture both solid lows and warm highs. The Pandemonium™ Bridge Model is equally at home with power chords and solos.

DiMarzio’s Pandemonium™ humbucking pickups feature a custom pickup grill designed especially for Nita. Nita’s logo design is cut all the way through the black metal cover, allowing the Double Cream™ bobbins below to show through.

When you’re on the road playing different venues as much as Nita is, you discover exactly what works and what doesn’t. You can rest assured that the Pandemonium™ humbuckers will perform because they’re 100% road tested by Nita.

The Pickup Place / HELP KEEP THIS PLACE RUNNING!
« on: April 06, 2018, 04:22:26 AM »
Hey Folks,

I've been running this forum since 2008 and for the most part, the expenses of keeping this place running was paid for out of my own pocket. For a short while I've been able to offset some of the costs with the ad revenue generated by the Google Ads but with the advent of ad blockers and what not, that revenue source is practically non-existent.

Recently health issues have put me into disabled status permanently resulting in fewer hours that I could clock in at work (which translates to less income) and I've been trying to cut down all my costs possible. This forum does not get any financial support from DiMarzio Inc. or any other company and I plan to continue keeping this place running as long as I can.

Instead of trying to force people to turn off their ad blockers or something like that, I'm just going to go old school and put this place back on running off donations.

So I'm just going to request that if you enjoy your time here, please consider making a donation.
