The Pickup Place / Pickup for a BC Rich Bich
« on: August 01, 2020, 09:56:15 AM »
Currently shopping a bit for an NJ Classic BC Rich Bich.

This is a simple double hum guitar with vol/tone/switch, but I am going to wire in classic excessive BC rich fashion.  An obvious choice would be a SuperD and Super 2 in the neck, with split/parallel, phase etc...I can always do that and be super happy.

But what are some other more modern choices of sounds I might do?  It must rock hard in series mode!

What do you play?  Style & amp.

No need for mega pups these days unless you like the EQ curve.  every amp I own will do over-the-top dirt.  Low output usually means greater articulation/definition without going mushy.

what is this Titan supposed to do exactly?  I am not hip to the latest cool DMZ pups.  But I do dig a righteous Les Paul.  speaking of which, exactly what sort of Les Paul are we talking about?  Year, neck size, etc...

The Steinberger Trans-Trem is the only "Transposing" tree I know of.

I have had a mixd bag of experience with Floyds.  Not my thing.  I could live with a dive bomb only setup.

Kahler made on that locked/unlocked itself.

Hybrid pups are a thing.  Rock on!

I'll guess it is not as loud as the breed, but more than the PAF Pro...

I have a Duncan 59/Custom that I love.  Never built my own though.

Can we get a link to the diagrams?  Never been there on their site.

Tell me the features on her guitar....

I bet there are three out there off the rack that would meet her needs.  I call BS.

I have said this a million times:  For $2k the guitar should have been gone over with a microscope.  End of story, not acceptable.

Now - the cool BUSINESS move would have been to offer you whatever nut was a sensible replacement.  That's their problem.

You?  TOTALLY the right move.

There has to be more fun loving DiMarzio owners out there!!!!

Darth - get in here!

And I'm back.  Got ban-hammered at Duncan.  Spread the word.  If you seek my knowledge it is available from new endorsed company.

Again - I don't know.  The height is different on every guitar.  A bass one might be tilted treble, a trebly one tilted to bass.  Your guitar, amp, fx etc.  and yes....ears are not mine.

The Pickup Place / Re: Curious: Dry vs wet sounding pickups?

I have never heard this wet v dry thing before.

But an interesting question or way of looking at things.  I will agree - more compression = smoother = wet.  A2 Mags = smoother = wet.

As for Vai, I think a lot like Slash, at some point his tone became a caricature of himself.  It was just like Uber-Vai or Vai on steroids.  Too much of a good thing.

Is freaking ROCKING in the el - cheapo Kramer KS-400

The hum bucking mode is very Iron Maiden tone like, and just thick.  I think the Plywood construction adds to the highs.

Split it gives me great single coil tones to go with middle/neck and a nice output balance.

And you may find this equally surprising; Sometimes a bridge pup in the neck does the trick.

btw - a Jazz with an A2 magnet is an Alnico Pro II pickup (aka - Those pickups Slash uses…)
