The Pickup Place / One coil with more winds?
« on: September 24, 2020, 09:58:40 PM »
Hi all! Quick question:
Dimarzio puts more winds around one of the coils in its single-coil sized humbuckers than the other. Which coil gets the most winds? The north or south coils?

I ask because I want to know which to split.
Thanks!

The Pickup Place / Chopper and cruiser (bridge) balance?
« on: September 18, 2020, 12:25:06 AM »
Hi all!
I want to use a Cruiser bridge model in the neck and a chopper in the bridge of my guitar. I know the cruiser bridge model needs a 500k volume pot and 500k tone pot when it’s in the neck position. But my favorite setup for the chopper is a 500k vol pot and a 250k tone.

Would a resistor make this combo possible for me? If so, What value resistor would I need and where would i solder it?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!!!!

The Pickup Place / Pickup splitting Hum
« on: December 07, 2018, 11:57:53 PM »
I have a quick question that, hopefully, someone can answer.
Imagine a 2-pickup guitar with a mini rail pickup, a cruiser, in the neck and a full sized humbucker in the bridge.

My question:
If I were to make the middle position of my 3-way switch operate the full neck pickup and the bridge humbucker spilt (so, only the bridge is split), would there be 60 cycle hum???

Thank you for any insight you can give me.

The Pickup Place / Chopper. Cruiser. 24.75". Pots?
« on: November 21, 2018, 08:23:28 PM »
Hello all! I am getting ready to build a warmth custom and am nailing down pickups and electrics.

It's a tele-type guitar with a roasted alder body, maple neck and ebony fretboard.
A strat-sized neck and bridge pickup cavity (not tele style).
This is a 24.75" scale guitar.

I have really liked the Chopper in the bridge in two other guitars I have had. Both of those instruments were 25.5 scale and had a 500k volume and 250k tone pot.

And I would like to have a cruiser in the neck position (a cruiser bridge model or neck model--not sure which).

My question is, what value pots should I choose? Does the shorter scale factor into that decision?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!  :)
