I’d just replace it all, non-harness if it were mine. You’re probably looking at about $30 in parts and a little bit of your time.
Great score btw!

They both sounded good but I’d have to lean toward the Throback set.

But like Darth said...some context as to what you want to hear out of the rig would be helpful.

I was hoping you would respond here. You know soooo much more about this than I do.  I’m still learning how all of this works.
I did discover that somehow I lost the spacer in my pickup when I was mag swapping. I searched for it but just can’t find it. There’s a better than probable chance that, that is causing my squealing. I ordered a couple which arrived today and this weekend I’ll install it and pot the pickup and see how it goes.
I bought a small crock pot and 2 lbs of paraffin, which I have already melted. I’m going to make a jig to hold the pickup submerged in the wax!

Ok, you took the pickup apart and lost the spacer. So the parts are not secure.

So you need to get something in there so no part of the pickup can move. A little wiggle translates to a lot of squealing.

You can buy the spacers on line.

Yeah, I grabbed a couple from Mojotone.
When I originally put the pickup back together, I noticed it had a little wiggle. Once I took it back apart I saw that the spacer was gone...

Not sure if you saw my wax potting thread on he Duncan forum.
Anyway, I have a pickup that needs to be potted. In my research I’ve learned the main reason that most prefer wax is that once you lacquer a pickup, there is no fixing it if anything should ever go wrong in the future. With wax you can always carefully pick it away if you ever needed to.
I’ll be potting my pickup this weekend. Fingers crossed....I’ll be busting my cherry.  Lol

I entered to win them. I’m not really a Strat guy so I’d probably sell them if I won.

Lmao.
I’m both a Gibson and Dimarzio fan. As well as Duncan etc...etc.
I’m not a fan of the video Gibson put out but whatever.
It’s not going to stop me from playing my current Gibson’s or buying another.

Lmao.
I just rewatched the vid of Petricci I posted above. Neither pickup sounded all that bluesy to me.
But still, they both sound amazing.
But John’s tone is so heavily processed in the video as well, so who knows what the pickups are capable of with different settings etc.

I really didn’t notice. One was a short video...a couple of minutes long and another was one of Petrucci playing.

That first video is me! :)  Figured it was worth throwing something quick together as there was no info anywhere. At the time I recorded it I didn't know anything about it specs.
I assumed ceramic though, based on his previous pickups.

Sounds just killer, just ordered another one for my Jem Jr. Going to order a Rainmaker soon too.

NB: The Dreamcather is taller than the Tone Zone it replaced, so in this guitar with direct-mounted pickups I had to mount it without any foam or anything under it to get it low enough.
The Rainmaker is the same height as the TZ, I emailed them and asked.
Your vid sounded great!
It was the first one I watched. It sounded so full and clear. Great job!

Talk to me about what the rest of your rig looked like.
I’m thinking of putting one of these in my LP Std. Played through a Quickrod.

Just watched a few vids of these pickups.  Wow, they sounded incredible.

I read on the Duncan forum that the Perpetual Burn is supposedly a slightly lower output JB without that upper mid spike....
I have no direct experience myself however.

Guitar Lounge / Re: Charvel Pro Mod SO-CAL: How to block tremolo?

The Rockinger Black Box.
Still allows full float use of the trem but will act as a stop if you break a string live etc. it for changing strings one at a time.
