No idea, but I'm looking into it. The increased traffic brings increased spammers.

It's funny how, not even a day after you post this, there are eight new threads devoted solely to spam.

The spam issues have been minimized but still not yet eliminated. I'm doing my best trying to figure out a way to keep these bots out.

UPDATE:

Well, the new anti spam measures were implemented on thursday Dec 11th before I took my little weekend trip to Vegas. I was really hoping to monitor the spam activity while I was out in my hotel room there, but seeing that the Exacilibur wanted to charge me $12 a day for internet access, I decided to not bother baby sitting the forum for a couple of days.

Coming back, I honestly I was expecting to come back to see a forum FULL of spam, but so far I've only seen THREE spam posts and all the users were registered prior to the new implementations. So it seems like the anti spam stuff is working.

Thanks for your patience, especially to those newer members who were looking to join but couldn't for a while.

Cheers,

Budd

Glad to see things are working Bud! Cheers to some hard work that finally ironed out an annoying issue.

Thank you, we're still getting some minor bits of spam here and there, but the issue has been resolved for the most part.

It's been a few days and not much spam going on. I think I've ironed out the issues enough now. Hopefully it stays this way.
