The Andy Timmons Pickup Combo in action
« on: October 08, 2014, 10:32:37 am »
Hello Everyone,
Here is a video I made a couple of months ago using my Ibanez SA9060QM with the Andy Timmons Pickups. To be more specific there are 2 Dimarzio Cruiser Bridge model on the Neck and Middle position and a Dimarzio AT-1 on the bridge.

Also I made a Demo of my pedalboard using the same guitar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9JcRK1APNM&list=UUBAWt9E8Vp7B5_zq-xqyLHA&index=4

I hope you guys like it.  :D

Thanks man! I really dig this pickup combination. Its crazy how they were able to achieve such an awesome "single coil tone" with the Cruisers.

I think the video shows that especially the top end of the Cruisers is very single coilish.

I only played this pickup combo on an MII Ibanez AT-100 in a music store for about half an hour through an EVH III combo which was very middy and gainy sounding overall. Add to this that the pickups were not set up well - the AT-1 very close to the strings and the Cruisers a bit away - which provided a huge mismatch in output. Maybe I should have tried this guitar with a different amplifier and after a better pickup height adjustment.

Cheers Stephan

Nice work and sound! Thank you for sharing.  Can i ask why you put the bridge Cruisers in the neck and mid as a apposed to using the neck Cruisers in the neck and mid pups?

I don't know why Orpheus chose to use the bridge cruisers instead of the neck model, but both models are very similar. The neck model just balances out better with the Cruiser bridge in the bridge position. Paired up with a humbucker, it really depends if you want more of a glassier sound or more of a bell like sound.
