You can always tell a DiMarzio player - because they always play the same style o' music essentially, no matter what the guitar.  :D Love it!

Now that you guys mention it, I kinda see what you mean. Most of the guys with Dimarzio's seem to love playing leads!

Unfortunately, I guess that's also why so many players only associate DiMarzio pickups with shred. "The Shredder's pickup". Some buyers may be put off by this notion. I don't really authentically shred, not by my definition anyway, but I love DiMarzio's for anything.

DiMarzio made some exceptional pickups for lead/soloing. It cuts through any kind of mix, so no wonder.

That unfortunately is a blessing and a curse. It's great for all the guys into shred and lead playing but it seems like for everything else, people tend to look elsewhere first. Hopefully that'll change soon though.

Love the Air Zone, but not the AIr Norton.  I prefer something a bit more dynamic and expressive in the neck.

I love whenever this thread becomes resurrected... it's a great example of the Air Norton and Air Zone.

And alfaromeo90, I agree with you 100%.

You can count me amongst the people who at one time only associated Dimarzio with shred pickups for lead based players.  If i was king of the world then i'd make Eric Clapton reform Cream and get back to his ES-335 but loaded with Air Classics and then all the blues rock guys would be buying Dimarzio's.... :)

I've been told that Fender paid Clapton a million dollars to stop using Gibsons.

I heard it was three million... but who cares, they paid him a lot of money.

Air Classics are incredible.
