Unlisted Japan Only Dimarzio pickups
« on: July 07, 2007, 09:24:13 pm »
While reading through some back issues of Young Guitar today I noticed something interesting. It appears that Japan not only gets special guitars like the Ibanez J-Custom series and ESP Original Series, but **Dimarzio** ALSO provides some special pickups for the Japanese domestic market. More specifically, three single coil pickups and one humbucker pickup. Model names are:

(All apart of the Dimarzio Collection Pickups)
DCS-1 Classical Vintage
DCS-2 Heavy Drive
DCS-3 Full Range Impact
DCH-3 Fully Range Impact (Humbucker)

I've attached some images that I've found on the Fender Japan site. So far it looks like Fender Japan is using them exclusively and I don't know if they're for sale outside of being an OEM part.

I just read Dimarzio Japan website. It does not show those pickups also. I think The Dimarzio Collection pickups are special make for Fender Japan.

Fender Japan needed a pup. The asked Steve to come up with a line for them and that was pretty much that. They're very close from what I understand to most of the models already available in the US. F. Japan wanted something for a special series of guitars the were building.. so a  special guitar gets a "special" pickup.

That's pretty cool.

But personally I feel that the pickups we have available in the U.S. are just fine.

I like the "Full Range Impact" name :)

I wonder what the closest US equivalent to this pickup would be. Having a pickup named Full Range Impact is indeed interesting.. but then again it would be a trick like the Humbucker from Hell.
